Shaun + Nicole {Married} | Outer Banks Wedding Photographer

Friday, April 5th, 2013

Shaun and Nicole  are dear friends, and I was so excited to be shooting their  Pavilion At Pirates Cove Wedding. Shuan & Nicole are OBX locals, but many of their friends and family traveled to join them at their Outer Banks Wedding. Nicole and her girls got ready at a house right in Pirate’s Cove with the help of Bombshell’s Studio, while Shaun got ready at their home in Manteo. Holiday House Weddings & Events did an amazing job on the decor, including rentals from Ocean Atlantic Rentals.  Great Cakes OBX provided both the cake and the ceremony officiating, while DJ John Harper rocked the house for their guests to dance the night away!

Shaun & Nicole {Engaged : Part 2} | Outer Banks Wedding Photographer

Friday, March 29th, 2013

Shaun & Nicole are dear friends and I was so glad to be shooting not only their engagements but also their Outer Banks Wedding. Even more special was that my husband was the best man! We ventured out early in the year for some engagement photos to get a save-the-date designed, but it was FREEZING. We managed to get what we needed, but decided to head back out in warmer weather for their Outer Banks Engagement Session. Shaun is a good sport, like most guys having your picture taken isn’t exactly the top of the fun list, but he was a trooper and just rolled with it!

Laura & Dave {New Bern/Outer Banks Wedding Photographer}

Wednesday, March 27th, 2013

Laura & Dave hosted their New Bern, NC Wedding at the Abiliena Plantation. It’s a beautiful location nestled back in trees and overlooking the water. Much like Outer Banks Weddings, when you book Abiliena you’ve got it for a week, which includes the house on property. Laura, Dave, and several members of their bridal party enjoyed a few days of relaxation and fun leading up to the wedding – it also makes things super handy for wedding prep and setup. Mother nature brought us a little surprise and as the rain started to fall we made the quick decision to move the ceremony under the pavilion. Laura & Dave opted to do as many ahead of time as we could fit in, so we were able to cover quite a bit. As luck would have it, at the end of the ceremony the rain stopped and we were able to get their formals out in the open and in front of the water!

Dave is in the Air Force, and they had about 3 weeks after the wedding before they would be moving to England for his Duty Station. Laura said she felt blessed to have finished work a couple of weeks early, and be able to use that time to spend visiting all of their friends and family before heading off. They’re not all settled in England, and after…oh a month?…they finally received all of their belongings!

St. Regis Washington DC Wedding Photographer {Part 1} | Courtney Hathaway Photography

Tuesday, February 19th, 2013

I seriously can not say enough awesome things about this wedding. It has to be one of my all-time favorite weddings….EVER. It’s the kind of wedding you leave, as a photographer, feeling so inspired. My dear friend and fellow photographer, Renee with Renee Sprink Photography, called me up and the first words of out her mouth were “put these dates down on your calendar, we’re going to DC”. Ummm..yes please! The St. Regis Washington DC is a photographer’s DREAM to shoot in.

I love shooting with Renee, she and I just have way too much fun together and it’s awesome when you can work in sync with each other. Renee first came out here to the OBX to shoot a couple of weddings with me, and became a fast friend, so I was honored when she asked me to come to DC for Cate & Tim’s amazing St. Regis Wedding. Nothing is a bigger compliment as a photographer than when other photographers ask you to shoot with them! We headed into town a couple of days before the wedding to scout locations and check in with Cate & Tim. The day before the wedding we had an ah-maz-ing bridal session with Cate, taking place in the lobby of the St. Regis and throughout their restaurant, Adour. Cate & Tim opted for a “first look”, and what better place to do it than Lafayette Park – adjacent to the White House.  You know it’s going to be an awesome wedding when you’re shooting the bride and groom in front of the White House!!!

Cate & Tim had the most amazing wedding day! From their pre-ceremony cocktail hour (courtesy of Cookies & Corks), to the a cappella stylings of the George Washing University’s Son’s Of Pitch – no detail was left undone. Their heartfelt and personal vows left everyone in tears, and you could really feel the love they share. Their ceremony was lit by candles on the beautiful Astor Terrace, while their reception was a sight to see inside Adour, the on site restaurant.

So without further ado, sit back and enjoy this ride – this will be a long one!

Make sure to check out PART 2 of their awesome wedding!

The Sanderling Inn & Spa Wedding Photographer {Outer Banks Wedding Photographer}

Monday, February 18th, 2013

Over the summer I got a call from Mike Reed with Mike Reed Photo. Mike was coming into town for a wedding and needed a second photographer. I happened to have the date free, and even though I was relishing the idea of having a free Saturday open (which doesn’t happen often!) I absolutely love working with other photographers, so I signed on to shoot with him at the Sanderling Inn & Spa in Duck. When I got to the Sanderling for Julie & Angelo’s wedding I knew it would be beautiful – Kim & Wes with Holiday House did a fabulous job on the decor and the sun was shining. What more could you ask for?

Julie & Angelo did things a little differently, and opted for both a Native American ceremony and a traditional American Ceremony. Both ceremonies took place on the back deck at the Sanderling, with the reception to follow in the beautiful brand new pavilion. Everything was fabulous while Julie, Angelo, and their family & friends danced the night away!

Stacey & Brett {Outer Banks Wedding Photographer}

Wednesday, February 6th, 2013

Stacey and Brett, along with their family, shared an intimate wedding on Hatteras Island. It’s one of my favorite places to photograph, as the area is secluded and pristine. Stacey and Brett’s wedding was beautiful, complete with a sand ceremony to join their new family together with the help of Stacey’s adorable daughter.

Melissa + Chris {Married} l Outer Banks Wedding Photographer

Sunday, November 25th, 2012

Melissa & Chris are an adorable couple, so sweet, and you can tell just by watching them that they truly love each other’s company. Melissa shared with me that their first romantic getaway was to the White Doe Inn in Manteo, so when they decided to get married they thought they would come full circle by having their wedding there. They had a beautiful oceanfront ceremony, followed by more photos around the Inn – which makes for the most beautiful backdrop! Chris, and especially Melissa, are total troopers as the weather was very cold and windy. They hung in there, and I am so glad I was able to be a part of their special day!

Amy & Brian l Engagement Day After Session – Outer Banks Wedding Photographer

Wednesday, October 10th, 2012

Amy & Brian – I just can’t say enough about these two! Amy contacted me a while ago to inquire about Outer Banks Wedding Photography and from the moment I read the answers on her info form I knew we’d be friends. I mean, who doesn’t love beer can chicken?  We both have a love of animals, especially our dogs, and for the duration of planning frequently text each other with funny pet pictures. As their wedding day quickly approached I was looking forward to meeting them in person! Their wedding was wonderful, and their family and friends welcomed me with open arms – definitely something that makes a wedding so much more fun for me. Amy & Brian opted for a more casual approach for their “Day After Session” and instead of wearing their wedding attire they went for everyday clothes, and wanted to include their dogs. We went with more of an engagment session approach and headed up to the 4×4 area of Carova Beach.

These two are just SO much fun to be around! They are so full of life and happiness, it’s really contagious! There are many people you feel like you instantly connect with, but Amy is one of those girls! We finished up our session, loaded the dogs up, and off we went! The best part of the day, driving off the beach in the bed of the truck (like a true Carolina girl!) with Amy watching the sun set! I definitely can’t wait until they come back down. Amy, I think the OBX needs another resident like you! ;)

Kait & Boo {Engaged} l Outer Banks Wedding Photographer

Sunday, July 8th, 2012

Kait & Boo are getting married next May, and we met up at Coquina Beach in South Nags Head for some engagement photos. Kait is quite possibly the sweetest person I’ve ever met, and together they make an adorable couple! Their wedding will be less “beach” and more “under the sea / nautical”, and I’m so excited to be working with them. Boo’s mom, Robin, is an extraordinary local cake baker and owner of  OBX Cakes By Robin. I’m so excited to have Robin making the cake for MY wedding this year!

Traci & David {Married} l Outer Banks Wedding Photographer l NC Aquarium Roanoke Island Wedding

Friday, June 8th, 2012

Traci & David are one sweet couple! We met many months ago for a consultation and I could tell right away they were so genuine and warm. They planned a beautiful ceremony overlooking the Roanoke Sound, with a reception to follow inside the NC Aquarium here on Roanoke Island. No detail was left un thought of, and Traci has gotten me seriously sucked into Etsy – where she managed to find some of the cutest wedding decor and accessories. The day started with Traci and her maid of honor getting ready, and ended with them dancing the night away with family and friends!
