Melissa & Mike {Married} | Whalehead Club Wedding Photographer

Tuesday, June 11th, 2013

A couple of weeks ago I had the pleasure of photographing the wedding of Melissa and Mike. I’d met Melissa and her mom several months earlier, and was really looking forward to their Whalehead Club Wedding. The always awesome Rev. Jay Bowman made the “I Do’s” happen, and we can’t forget about the super talented Embellisher’s for their beautiful arch and flowers. Island Shore Productions was on hand to video, and I can’t wait to see what Tony captured! We were not about to let some wind and overcast skies stop us, and Melissa was definitely a trooper as she hiked all over The Whalehead Club in her heels for the best spots to photograph. Thanks again for letting me capture your big day!

Michelle & Chris | Corolla Wedding Photographer

Monday, June 3rd, 2013

Michelle and Chris celebrated their Outer Banks Wedding with family and friends in a Corolla event home. A light rain storm threatened to move us inside, but it quickly passed and we continued on as normal. Michelle was so clam getting ready, and looked beautiful as she headed down the isle to meet her groom. Congrats Michelle & Chris – it was an honor to photograph your special day!

Matt & Hallie {Outer Banks/Nags Head Wedding Photographer}

Wednesday, May 29th, 2013

Matt & Hallie hosted their Outer Banks Wedding with family and close friends in Nags Head. Their gazebo ceremony was followed by an intimate dinner inside the Tail of the Whale Restaurant. We were able to steel a few minutes away after their ceremony for some photos overlooking the water. Their bridal party had probably one of the best “jump shots” for the entire year!

Shaun + Nicole {Married} | Outer Banks Wedding Photographer

Friday, April 5th, 2013

Shaun and Nicole  are dear friends, and I was so excited to be shooting their  Pavilion At Pirates Cove Wedding. Shuan & Nicole are OBX locals, but many of their friends and family traveled to join them at their Outer Banks Wedding. Nicole and her girls got ready at a house right in Pirate’s Cove with the help of Bombshell’s Studio, while Shaun got ready at their home in Manteo. Holiday House Weddings & Events did an amazing job on the decor, including rentals from Ocean Atlantic Rentals.  Great Cakes OBX provided both the cake and the ceremony officiating, while DJ John Harper rocked the house for their guests to dance the night away!

Shaun & Nicole {Engaged : Part 2} | Outer Banks Wedding Photographer

Friday, March 29th, 2013

Shaun & Nicole are dear friends and I was so glad to be shooting not only their engagements but also their Outer Banks Wedding. Even more special was that my husband was the best man! We ventured out early in the year for some engagement photos to get a save-the-date designed, but it was FREEZING. We managed to get what we needed, but decided to head back out in warmer weather for their Outer Banks Engagement Session. Shaun is a good sport, like most guys having your picture taken isn’t exactly the top of the fun list, but he was a trooper and just rolled with it!

Laura & Dave {New Bern/Outer Banks Wedding Photographer}

Wednesday, March 27th, 2013

Laura & Dave hosted their New Bern, NC Wedding at the Abiliena Plantation. It’s a beautiful location nestled back in trees and overlooking the water. Much like Outer Banks Weddings, when you book Abiliena you’ve got it for a week, which includes the house on property. Laura, Dave, and several members of their bridal party enjoyed a few days of relaxation and fun leading up to the wedding – it also makes things super handy for wedding prep and setup. Mother nature brought us a little surprise and as the rain started to fall we made the quick decision to move the ceremony under the pavilion. Laura & Dave opted to do as many ahead of time as we could fit in, so we were able to cover quite a bit. As luck would have it, at the end of the ceremony the rain stopped and we were able to get their formals out in the open and in front of the water!

Dave is in the Air Force, and they had about 3 weeks after the wedding before they would be moving to England for his Duty Station. Laura said she felt blessed to have finished work a couple of weeks early, and be able to use that time to spend visiting all of their friends and family before heading off. They’re not all settled in England, and after…oh a month?…they finally received all of their belongings!

Honeymoon {Destination Wedding Photographer / OBX Wedding Photogrpher}

Tuesday, March 19th, 2013

We’re back from what felt like forever in the snow! Rob and I took the non-traditional route for our honeymoon…because when do we ever do anything traditional? We (ahem…he?) decided on skiing in Vail, CO. Rob LOVES to ski, and I tolerate it, so off to Colorado we went.

This East Coast girl isn’t used to that kind of altitude! Let me tell you…..walking up a set of stairs at 12,000ft is no joke! We did have a great trip full of snow, skiing, tubing, snowmobiling, and a lot of great food! The scenery was breathtaking, and it really put our East Coast skiing to shame! Vail Village was just adorable and I can’t wait to go back. We’re already talking about next year, and bringing friends along.

The best part about vacation was unplugging! I relied almost solely on my point-and-shoot camera, and only brought the big camera out a few times.

…..and yes…..my husband skis in a moose hat!

My crazy husband never does anything normal, and instead of going on a GUIDED snowmobile tour he decided it would be more fun to just rent them and self guide. I still can’t believe he trusted me to rive my own snowmobile!!

Adiós OBX…Hello Vail! l Outer Banks Wedding & Portrait Photograher

Thursday, February 28th, 2013

It’s only been 6 months but Rob and I are finally heading on our honeymoon! We leave bright and early tomorrow morning for 12 days in Vail. Needless to say he’s so excited he can’t stop looking at the weather forecast  Meanwhile….I keep trying to figure out how I’m not going to freeze!!!

We’ll be out of the office tomorrow starting tomorrow, until March 12th!

Ever tried to pack 12 days worth of winter clothing and ski outfits???? I need a vacation just from the packing!!

St. Regis Washington DC Wedding {Part 2} | St. Regis Photographer

Wednesday, February 27th, 2013

Welcome to Part 2 of Cate & Tim’s amazing wedding at the St. Regis in Washington, DC. In case you missed it, be sure to check out their getting ready and first look in Part 1. I know I said it before, but I have to say it again, the St. Regis Washington is a photographer’s dream to shoot in. Their gorgeous Astor Terrace was the perfect spot for Cate & Tim’s intimate ceremony, and the decor inside their French restaurant Adour was so hip! Fun Fact : The starbursts in the decor were the inspiration for the design elements featured all on the stationary.
