Shaun & Nicole {Engaged : Part 2} | Outer Banks Wedding Photographer

Friday, March 29th, 2013

Shaun & Nicole are dear friends and I was so glad to be shooting not only their engagements but also their Outer Banks Wedding. Even more special was that my husband was the best man! We ventured out early in the year for some engagement photos to get a save-the-date designed, but it was FREEZING. We managed to get what we needed, but decided to head back out in warmer weather for their Outer Banks Engagement Session. Shaun is a good sport, like most guys having your picture taken isn’t exactly the top of the fun list, but he was a trooper and just rolled with it!

Laura & Dave {New Bern/Outer Banks Wedding Photographer}

Wednesday, March 27th, 2013

Laura & Dave hosted their New Bern, NC Wedding at the Abiliena Plantation. It’s a beautiful location nestled back in trees and overlooking the water. Much like Outer Banks Weddings, when you book Abiliena you’ve got it for a week, which includes the house on property. Laura, Dave, and several members of their bridal party enjoyed a few days of relaxation and fun leading up to the wedding – it also makes things super handy for wedding prep and setup. Mother nature brought us a little surprise and as the rain started to fall we made the quick decision to move the ceremony under the pavilion. Laura & Dave opted to do as many ahead of time as we could fit in, so we were able to cover quite a bit. As luck would have it, at the end of the ceremony the rain stopped and we were able to get their formals out in the open and in front of the water!

Dave is in the Air Force, and they had about 3 weeks after the wedding before they would be moving to England for his Duty Station. Laura said she felt blessed to have finished work a couple of weeks early, and be able to use that time to spend visiting all of their friends and family before heading off. They’re not all settled in England, and after…oh a month?…they finally received all of their belongings!

The Sanderling Inn & Spa Wedding Photographer {Outer Banks Wedding Photographer}

Monday, February 18th, 2013

Over the summer I got a call from Mike Reed with Mike Reed Photo. Mike was coming into town for a wedding and needed a second photographer. I happened to have the date free, and even though I was relishing the idea of having a free Saturday open (which doesn’t happen often!) I absolutely love working with other photographers, so I signed on to shoot with him at the Sanderling Inn & Spa in Duck. When I got to the Sanderling for Julie & Angelo’s wedding I knew it would be beautiful – Kim & Wes with Holiday House did a fabulous job on the decor and the sun was shining. What more could you ask for?

Julie & Angelo did things a little differently, and opted for both a Native American ceremony and a traditional American Ceremony. Both ceremonies took place on the back deck at the Sanderling, with the reception to follow in the beautiful brand new pavilion. Everything was fabulous while Julie, Angelo, and their family & friends danced the night away!

Alex & Rob + Haynes l Outer Banks Portrait Photographer

Friday, December 14th, 2012

The hardest thing about taking holiday portraits, is having to SAVE them for the holidays! Aside from being a great friend, Alex is probably one of the sweetest and most thoughtful people I know. We got together with her, Rob, and their sweet puppy Haynes for a Christmas card photo. Rob’s a boat captain, like my Rob, and so it was only fitting that we head down to the marina and use the boat for some of their photos. They have probably the most well behaved dog I’ve ever worked with. Haynes will sit forever until you tell him he’s allowed to move….mine would have been in the water.

Jenn + Barry {Married} l Outer Banks Wedding Photographer

Wednesday, December 5th, 2012

Jenn & Barry celebrated their wedding with family and friends at the Kitty Hawk Hilton Pier House! They are such a great couple, from our first meeting I could tell they were going to be awesome to work with. So laid back, and just looking forward to being married and becoming a family. They told me about their love of music, particularly the Avett Brothers, and how they like to spend time with Jenn’s kids – even proposing to Jenn at a concert! There was one moment I knew these two were great for each other…. Jenn told me about her kids, and how she’s the mom of triplets. I told her she was a saint, because I could only imagine how much work that must be! She immediately replied with, “No, he’s the Saint, because he’s marrying us”. I just thought that was SO sweet, and it’s something I remembered! Jenn & Barry had an amazing wedding day! They were blessed with beautiful weather and a whole group of amazing family & friends. From their pier top ceremony to their sandy portraits, I had a great time at their wedding.

So now it’s on to their photos, but not without quoting the Avett Brothers, which seemed fitting -

Kait & Boo {Engaged} l Outer Banks Wedding Photographer

Sunday, July 8th, 2012

Kait & Boo are getting married next May, and we met up at Coquina Beach in South Nags Head for some engagement photos. Kait is quite possibly the sweetest person I’ve ever met, and together they make an adorable couple! Their wedding will be less “beach” and more “under the sea / nautical”, and I’m so excited to be working with them. Boo’s mom, Robin, is an extraordinary local cake baker and owner of  OBX Cakes By Robin. I’m so excited to have Robin making the cake for MY wedding this year!

Tammy & Seth {Married} l OBX Wedding Photographer l Outer Banks Wedding Photography l Elizabethan Gardens Wedding

Monday, May 7th, 2012

Tammy & Seth are just about the cutest couple! They were married surrounded by family and friends at the gorgeous Elizabethan Gardens, officiated by Rev. Tanya Young. I got to the gardens a little early for their mid day ceremony, and was thrilled to see the weather was beautiful. All morning it has been overcast and a little iffy, but we were blessed with sunshine and blue skies during their ceremony. They chose a fantastic location, on the terrace overlooking the main fountain. We followed up their ceremony with a group shot of everyone and family pictures, before stealing a little time with just the bride & groom. As the afternoon came to an end, Tammy & Seth loaded up with their family and friends, headed back to their reception in the 4×4 area of Carova Beach!

Their adorable ring bearer needed a little reassurance about going down the isle! Many times kids are too shy to make it down, and usually mom or dad comes to get them. I loved seeing Seth leave his post to go get his nephew – too sweet!

Back to the grind! l Outer Banks Wedding Photographer l OBX Photographer

Tuesday, February 21st, 2012

I’m back in the office after a MUCH needed vacation, and getting back to the grind. My inbox is overflowing, and I’m slowly responding to everyone. If you’ve sent me an email and haven’t gotten a reply yet, I promise it’s coming. :)

Until then, I’m back in the cold and wishing I was still on vacation!

2012 Outer Banks Wedding Expo l OBX Wedding Photographer l David Tutera “My Fair Wedding”

Friday, January 27th, 2012

The 2012 Outer Banks Wedding Association Wedding Expo has come and gone, and what a weekend it was! I had such a great time catching up with all the vendors and meeting a whole new batch of amazing brides and grooms!

The wedding weekend is always crazy! I started the expo weekend with the wedding tour on Saturday, and I was thrilled to be set up at the fabulous Pavilion at Pirate’s Cove – which also happens to be MY wedding venue as well!  I had a great day hanging with Heather from Pirate’s Cove as we chatted about our upcoming weddings, and met with a lot of really great engaged couples! Quickly rushed over to the high school to set up my booth, and I must give a HUGE thanks to my family and friends. Every year they really take one for the team to help me prepare.

Saturday night I ventured to welcome reception with my second shooter, Renee, to check out the super fabulous David Tutera from WE tv’s My Fair Wedding! After hearing him talk, and a Q&A session with the audience he was gracious enough to stick around for photos.  I’m normally a level headed person, but I was actually giddy to meet David! Can you say goober?

Me & David

My super awesome second shooter, Renee, jumped in:

Sunday’s Expo is always an exciting day. The crowds, the food, the cake…..what more can you ask for? I always get there bright and early to put the finishing touches on my booth and visit with everyone! We were thrilled when David Tutera stopped by and I was able to get another photo with him IN my booth. He is the nicest guy, sticking around for a few minutes to chat with us on how he feels about the “First Look”.

Engaged l Outer Banks Wedding Photographer

Tuesday, January 10th, 2012

It’s official, the photographer is getting married! After 12 years, Rob proposed about a week before Christmas. The fall of 2012 will bring a lot of planning, but I’m thrilled! Rob and I are very excited, and I have a new appreciation for all of my couples!
