I met up with Kate and her family in Corolla for their family sessions. In a week of crazy weather, they lucked out with the most beautiful evening and beautiful light. Add in their ridiculously cute kids and you end up with a session that just comes together. I had such a great time getting to work with them!
Clearly little brother isn’t as thrilled to be hanging out with big brother? 
That time of year is almost here again. Where you listen to the waves crashing, feel the wind and sun on your skin, the smell of salty air, and tasting the ocean on your lips. I love these two! Not only are Rainnie & Dave part of our awesome family, they were also in our wedding! They came back into town to pick up their new puppy, Lucy, and we were able to squeeze in a quick few minutes to get their Christmas Card photos for this year. I’m pretty sure Lucy steals the show, and is almost too much cuteness for one post! I’ve kept these a secret far too long, but now that the cards have been mailed and gifts open, they’re finally hitting the blog!
This shot was taken in my front yard (before I tried to steal their new dog!) and not even 2 days later, all those leaves on my beautiful tree were gone! Tis’ the season..hehe!
I met up with the Lawrence family at the Avon Pier in Avon for family beach portraits. We had a beautiful evening and gorgeous light for their session. It was great working with them and their adorable kids!
I’m back in the office after a MUCH needed vacation, and getting back to the grind. My inbox is overflowing, and I’m slowly responding to everyone. If you’ve sent me an email and haven’t gotten a reply yet, I promise it’s coming.
Until then, I’m back in the cold and wishing I was still on vacation!
I love photographing friends, it’s almost like not working at all! My friend Debi and I were chatting about her family holiday photos while running down the road. Debi and I both do a fitness bootcamp, in fact, we started on the same day so I guess you could say we’ve been together from the beginning. Six months ago we were both running our first 5k and now we both just finished our first Half Marathon. It’s insane to think of how far we’ve come. Debi is hysterical – she always keeps me laughing, and after spending the afternoon with her family the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree! We met up downtown with her husband and kids to get the perfect Christmas card photo. Everyone, right on down to Sasha the dog, was on their best behavior!
If you read my last post, you know that I had four seniors in ONE session. What do you get when you put 4 seniors in one session? Controlled crazy!
Before Hurricane Irene blew into the OBX I had the chance to meet up with Kelly & Lorenzo. They were staying down in Rodanthe for a planning trip, to get a few things together for their 2012 wedding. Kelly & Lorenzo are the type of people you could chat with for hours – and that’s exactly what we did! Our simple wedding consultation turned into 3 hours of coffee and chatting. Just as the sun was setting we skipped across the street to an empty soundside lot for a quick mini engagement session.
Last week I had a lot of fun photographing Christy & Ryan’s engagment session. We met up at Coquina Beach and lucked out with a beautiful evening – and cool (for summer time!) temps. They’re getting married back in Virginia, but took advantage of their beach vacation to have some engagement photos taken. They did it right…normally I photograph families all staying together but they were vacationing with several other couple friends. Talk about a fun way to spend your vacation!
It’s always a compliment when another photographer pics you. I had an email from Renee letting me know she was coming into town with her family and wanted to schedule a session. We met up on evening at their oceanfront rental in Duck for some family photos, and here are a couple from their session:
As Renee knows all too well, moms are almost always left of out of the photos because they’re taking them. That’s especially true when mom is a photographer, and I’m so glad we were able to capture some sweet moments of Renee and her boys. Here’s one of my favorites:
