Dave, Rainnie & Lucy {Holiday Portraits} | Outer Banks Portrait Photographer

Wednesday, December 26th, 2012

I love these two! Not only are Rainnie & Dave part of our awesome family, they were also in our wedding! They came back into town to pick up their new puppy, Lucy, and we were able to squeeze in a quick few minutes to get their Christmas Card photos for this year. I’m pretty sure Lucy steals the show, and is almost too much cuteness for one post! I’ve kept these a secret far too long, but now that the cards have been mailed and gifts open, they’re finally hitting the blog!

This shot was taken in my front  yard (before I tried to steal their new dog!) and not even 2 days later, all those leaves on my beautiful tree were gone! Tis’ the season..hehe!

The Wright Family | Outer Banks Family Portrait Photographer

Friday, December 14th, 2012

You might recognize mom as, Kristi, the face behind Kristi Midgette Photography. Like most photographers, we’re always the LAST ones to have our own family portraits taken. We’re often so busy assisting our clients, that we’re scrambling at the last minute to put out our own Christmas card. Kristi’s family is awesome and the littlest member, Sterling, is one of the funniest kids I know. Unlike most photographer’s kids who run away when the camera comes out, Sterling is a total ham and it’s like photographing America’s Next Top model. With every click of the camera, she likes to change up her pose. :) We met at one of my favorite spots in Nags Head for their Christmas pictures, and despite the cold and wind they rocked it out!

Alex & Rob + Haynes l Outer Banks Portrait Photographer

Friday, December 14th, 2012

The hardest thing about taking holiday portraits, is having to SAVE them for the holidays! Aside from being a great friend, Alex is probably one of the sweetest and most thoughtful people I know. We got together with her, Rob, and their sweet puppy Haynes for a Christmas card photo. Rob’s a boat captain, like my Rob, and so it was only fitting that we head down to the marina and use the boat for some of their photos. They have probably the most well behaved dog I’ve ever worked with. Haynes will sit forever until you tell him he’s allowed to move….mine would have been in the water.

Mary Kathryn {Newborn} | Outer Banks Portrait Photographer

Friday, December 14th, 2012

I’ve known Kathryn practically my whole life and was so excited to shoot Mary Kathryn’s newborn photos. The best way to describe Kathryn, is classic. She’s a sweater-set and pearls kind of girl, and I knew we’d want to keep MK’s session timeless . Keeping it simple and incorporating a few elements was key, but we did manage to sneak in a little fun…courtesy of Kathryn’s mom who found the adorable hat! She slept for me essentially the whole time, and is such a sweet baby.

Mabel & Trouble | Outer Banks Portrait Photographer

Wednesday, December 5th, 2012

This session has been a long time coming, and one we’ve talked about doing – it’s just a matter of doing it! We’re a horse family, and so it’s not surprise that when it was time to take updated photos of my sister we’d head to barn and do them with “Trouble”.  Troubs was so well behaved for our shoot, and was actually quite the camera hog, which is unusual…normally I can’t ever get his attention! Mabel was gorgeous as always, and I just can’t believe what a beautiful young lady she’s growing up to be.

Cady {Senior} l Outer Banks Senior Portrait Photographer

Wednesday, September 5th, 2012

Cady and her family met me EARLY one morning at Coquina beach for Cady’s Outer Banks senior portraits. If you ventured to the OBX this summer, you know we’ve been battling some rain! Poor Cady…we weren’t even 5 shots into her session when it started to sprinkle. We headed up to the bath-house to wait it out, and luckily for us it passed over and we were able to venture out. Cady was so sweet, and her family was just as awesome.

Laura & Dave {Engaged} l OBX Wedding & Engagement Photographer l New Bern, NC Photographer

Wednesday, April 25th, 2012

Laura is one of the first friends I met when I started college. We quickly bonded and have remained friends ever since. Our friendship is the kind where it doesn’t matter how long you go without seeing each other, it’s like you just pick up where you left off. Living far away for quite a while, we didn’t see each other much and I had’t had the chance to meet the new man in her life, Dave. It didn’t take much time to see that Dave is a perfect fit for Laura. They are definitely well matched, and he dotes on her like every girl deserves. Dave is in the Air Force, and a few short weeks after their June wedding they’ll be headed off for 3 year in England. I’m looking forward to photographing their wedding at the beautiful Abilena Plantation in New Bern this June.

Laura & Dave came out to visit me on the OBX, and the weather was NOT forgiving. It wasn’t just cold and rainy, it was pouring! So much for beach portraits. Since Dave is in the Air Force we’d planned on some photos at the local airport but the weather didn’t cooperate. Luckily, we were able to pop into Barrier Island Aviation and use the Biplane and hanger for some indoor portraits. We got up (early) the next morning and braved some drizzling rain for some outdoor portraits in Downtown Manteo.  I’m definitely going to miss Laura when she leaves, but I know she’ll have a blast exploring Europe with her love!

Mahler Family l Outer Banks Photographer l OBX Photographer

Tuesday, December 6th, 2011

I love photographing friends, it’s almost like not working at all! My friend Debi and I were chatting about her family holiday photos while running down the road. Debi and I both do a fitness bootcamp, in fact, we started on the same day so I guess you could say we’ve been together from the beginning. Six months ago we were both running our first 5k and now we both just finished our first Half Marathon. It’s insane to think of how far we’ve come. Debi is hysterical – she always keeps me laughing, and after spending the afternoon with her family the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree! We met up downtown with her husband and kids to get the perfect Christmas card photo. Everyone, right on down to Sasha the dog, was on their best behavior!

Katie + Jason {Engaged} l Hatteras Island Engagement & Wedding Photographer

Friday, July 29th, 2011

Katie contacted me about scheduling an engagement session while they were staying on Hatteras Island. I was able to fit them in, and met up with them at the Hatteras Lighthouse in Buxton for an evening session.  We started at the base of the lighthouse, having to be super quiet as there was a small wedding ceremony happening on the other side. From there we headed to the beach. Are they seriously not the most adorable couple EVER? Katie is so sweet and Jason is a riot. I laughed the entire time, which really says a lot! You can tell they will have many happy years ahead of them! Katie’s family has a house in Hatteras, and they’re evening planning a summer 2012 wedding here on the OBX.

Stevi l Outer Banks Senior Portrait Photographer l OBX Beach Portraits

Wednesday, July 6th, 2011

This week I had a great time photographing Stevi’s senior portraits at Coquina Beach. It was overcast and windy, but she rocked it out, and had the perfect hair for the beach!! It looked awesome blowing in the wind. I also love how she brought a photo of her mom to include in the portraits – she would definitely be proud of the sweet young lady you are!
