Laughbaum Family | Outer Banks Beach Portraits

Monday, June 17th, 2013

Nancy and her family met me in Southern Shores for her Outer Banks Beach Portraits.  It was a rare morning with cool weather (something we don’t get often here in the summer) and beautiful skies. It was great getting to work with them, and it’s always treat to work with small groups! Thanks for letting me capture your memories!

Cain Family | Corolla Family Portrait Photographer

Wednesday, June 5th, 2013

I met up with Kate and her family in Corolla for their family sessions. In a week of crazy weather, they lucked out with the most beautiful evening and beautiful light. Add in their ridiculously cute kids and you end up with a session that just comes together. I had such a great time getting to work with them!

Book your OBX Beach Portrait | Outer Banks Family Beach Portrait Photographer

Wednesday, April 24th, 2013

Summer is FAST approaching here on the Outer Banks and it’s almost time for those OBX Beach Vacations. We were teased by Mother Nature over the past few weeks with some beautiful warm weather (if you could stand the pollen!) and like a cruel trick she brought us some really nasty weather. The past week has been cold wind, rain, more wind, more rain, finished up with a little more wind! FINALLY today we woke up to blue skies and birds chirping. While you still can’t put on those swimsuits just yet, it is really nice to go outside without needing a parka….or a morton salt man rain suit!

So in honor of the beautiful weather we’re having today we’ve decided to kick start our 2013 OBX Beach Portrait Season with a little promo to celebrate the great weather!

OBX Beach Days {Outer Banks Beach Portrait Photographer}

Friday, March 29th, 2013

After a somewhat last minute decision we decided to host Easter Dinner at our house. Not only that, but my mother-in-law loaded up her two dogs and drove into town from New Jersey. It’s like animal house around here right now with 2 labs and a mutt (that our friend Paige hilariously referred to as “the tiger looking dog”…haha). Thankfully all 3 dogs are behaving themselves! We decided to take advantage of today’s gorgeous weather, which we haven’t been getting much of lately, and after lunch we loaded the hounds into the truck and headed to a private little beach here on the island. The puppies had a blast, and after a rinsing all 3 are quietly passed out in various places around my living room.

My mother-in-law may actually kill me for this, but I couldn’t resist. :)

Poor Molly girl….thinks she’s in time out because she had to sit for a photo!

This could be the miracle of the season….not a single headswap in the bunch and all 3 dogs looking!!!

Outer Banks Family Portraits {Outer Banks Beach Portrait Photographer}

Thursday, February 14th, 2013

It’s that time of year again, the time when families are making their vacation plans for summer! It’s hard to believe we’re in February already, but school will be out before you know it and summer vacation will soon be here! Many families are making plans for their Family Beach Portraits and what better time than during your OBX Vacation?

So what’s different about this year? We’re moving forward with our desire to go totally digital, with the exception of our wall art! So what does that mean for you? We’ve revamped our session offerings, and now every session includes the digital files. Images from your session are accessed via your personal and private online gallery, where you will be able to download your digital files directly to your computer. Now each family member can log into the gallery and download their own copy of the images from your session!

Don’t worry, you still have the option to purchase prints through your gallery. We specialize in Wall Art (Prints & Canvases), specifically prints 11×14 and larger. Wall Prints are carefully mounted and receive a linen texture finish and protective lacquer coating for durability and longevity. Gallery Wrapped Canvases are printed on a high end canvas and wrapped around a wooden stretcher with the hanging hardware already attached!

Cady {Senior} l Outer Banks Senior Portrait Photographer

Wednesday, September 5th, 2012

Cady and her family met me EARLY one morning at Coquina beach for Cady’s Outer Banks senior portraits. If you ventured to the OBX this summer, you know we’ve been battling some rain! Poor Cady…we weren’t even 5 shots into her session when it started to sprinkle. We headed up to the bath-house to wait it out, and luckily for us it passed over and we were able to venture out. Cady was so sweet, and her family was just as awesome.

Laura & Dave Engaged : Round Two l Outer Banks Wedding Photographer l OBX Wedding Photographer

Monday, April 30th, 2012

So I’m starting to think that whenever I need some rain on my yard, I should just schedule a session with Laura & Dave. Their first engagement session yielded some pretty rough weather. We had grand ideas of a quick stop at the airport for some aviation themed photos (Dave is in the Air Force) but quickly had to reevaluate our plans. Turns out that weekend was a nasty wet mess….and it was C.O.L.D. We managed to squeak some out inside a hanger, and finished up the next morning before they headed home. They braved the cold and drizzling rain, but we definitely got some great shots. Laura really had her heart set on beach photos. We tried a couple other weekends, and each one had really wet and windy weather….hello spring on the OBX!

So imagine how bummed I was when on my way home from the grocery store the day of our session it starts to rain. I don’t just mean sprinkle, it was a full on monsoon. By the time I was half way home, it had stopped and looked fairly clear down south where we were going to be. I called her and told her to get ready and meet me ASAP, we were going to bump our start time up and see if we could beat the rain….and we did!!! We got to the beach and it was definitely windy and chilly, but wasn’t raining. We even managed to pull off a good 10 minutes of sunshine and blue skies before it went away. I’m SO glad we were able to get our session in, and no one blew away!
