Nikki + Eric {Married} l Outer Banks Wedding Photographer

Thursday, November 10th, 2011

I met with Nikki and Eric 4th of July weekend up in Duck to chat about their upcoming wedding. From the first meeting I just knew it was going to be a great wedding, not only because they were so friendly and laid back but because they wanted that to be the feel of their wedding. They chose to do a small wedding with immediate family on a soundside pier/gazebo in Duck that belongs to the community where Nikki’s family owns a house, followed by dinner at The Blue Point in Duck. That was the plan, and then Hurricane Irene happened! Nikki and Eric took it in stride, because most people would panic when they find out their ceremony site now looks like this:

A quick change of plans, and the ceremony was moved to The Saltaire in Duck. GREAT CHOICE! The Saltaire is beautiful, and made for a beautiful backdrop. Everything from the interior rooms to the outside was perfect. Even more perfect were Nikki and Eric, who wowed everyone with their gorgeous looks. Nikki stole the show in her vintage dress…..be still my heart! As much as I love shooting on the beach, it’s a photographers dream when you get to break out of your normal and do something a little different. The evening ended with drinks on the back lawn of The Blue Point watching the sun set over the sound, followed by dinner in the private room. Congrats on a beautiful wedding!

Aymber & Bernard {Married} l Carova, OBX Wedding Photographer

Ceremony & Reception Location: Twiddy Event Home – Carova 4×4 area

Catering: Basnight’s Lone Cedar Cafe

Officient: Rev. Jay Bowman

Cake: Icing On the Cake

Aymber & Bernard were a really great couple to work with. They decided on a low-key intimate wedding with close family, friends, and their children in the gorgeous 4×4 area of Carova. It proved to be a perfect backdrop and we even had a visit from the famous Corolla Wild Horses. Their day wasn’t without a few mishaps ;) but all in all it was a beautiful day and one filled with a lot of love and joy. Aymber is an incredibly strong woman, having lost her first husband in Iraq, she has raised their daughter into a beautiful little girl, and found a wonderful man in Bernard. Their children have easily slipped into brother/sister rolls with each other – and are about the three cutest little things I’ve seen in a while. Rev. Jay did not disappoint, while Ron and the rest of the Lone Cedar crew rocked out an amazing dinner.

Congrats to Aymber & Bernard on your new family together!

2011 Outer Banks Wedding Expo

Tuesday, January 18th, 2011

The expo has come and gone – and what a year it was!!! I had the priveldge of not only setting up a booth at the expo but also participating in the wedding tour.

My Saturday started out at Gertrude’s Breakaway, a Corolla event home managed by the great folks at Beach Realty. I want to give a big THANK YOU to the Beach Realty crew for inviting me to participate in this years wedding tour, and also to the lovely ladies that kept me company all day:

I also want to give a shout out to Wes, and the rest of the staff at Red Sky Cafe. They had an awesome set up of their famous Shrimp & Grits – oh.my.gosh – it was GOOD. I’m a traitor to southern girls everywhere, as I’ve never been a huge fan of grits. Let me just say, it’s a wonder I didn’t turn into a bowl of grits by the end of the day. They were simply delicious!!!!

Melinda Gregory, with Just Desserts, had a beautiful (and yummy!) display of samples for the brides and their entourage to try out.

We had beautiful flower arrangements scattered throughout the home, courtesy of The Embellishers. They really outdid themselves, and the flowers were beautiful!

Wedding Expo Day was a blast, and exhausting all rolled into one.

I want to give a HUGE thank you to my family and friends. Without you all, none of this would have been possible. My wonderful dad, and another friend, built my entire booth. It was a labor of love, and well worth it because I was thrilled with the way it turned out. They did a fabulous job!!!

I also want to give big hugs to my friends, Winnie & Rebecca, for hanging in there all.day.long helping to greet brides, hand out information, and answer questions. It’s a long day, and I’m so glad you guys were there to share it with me.

To all of the wonderful brides, grooms, family members, and friends – THANK YOU for stopping by. It was wonderful meeting you all, and I can’t wait to work with you! :)
