Matt & Hallie hosted their Outer Banks Wedding with family and close friends in Nags Head. Their gazebo ceremony was followed by an intimate dinner inside the Tail of the Whale Restaurant. We were able to steel a few minutes away after their ceremony for some photos overlooking the water. Their bridal party had probably one of the best “jump shots” for the entire year!
After getting engaged Matt & Jessica took a trip here to the OBX and attended the Outer Banks Wedding Expo, where they picked up lots of information and the Outer Banks Bride Magazine. I always love when I find a personal connection with my couples, so I wasn’t at all surprised when I received a voicemail from Matt. I’d been out of town attending a workshop, when he called to inquire about availability. Turns out, Matt is a pilot for the same airline as my brother. He told me the story of seeing my picture on my website and thinking, “Hey, that looks like a female version of Kevin”. Thanks Matt! Not sure if I should have been offended by that one…hehe…as I think my brother looks like the male version of ME. 
Needless to say it’s always small world, and a text to my brother to confirm he did in fact have a sister who is a photographer on the OBX resulted in us working together!
They lucked out with a beautiful day here on the OBX. The folks at the Hilton did a fabulous job of setting up, and DJ Bruce rocked the house! Jessica’s friend did the florals, and they were gorgeous! Seriously, I’ve had more emails about those flowers….everyone loves them! Matt & Jessica, it was so wonderful working with you!
Allison & Jason were one of many couples tho experienced first hand what a Hurricane can do to throw a wrench in your plans! They had planned a simple, quiet, intimate ceremony on Hatteras Island…..and then Irene happened. As many couples were canceling weddings, Allison & Jason managed to find a rental in Corolla and quickly change their plans. A true testament to who they are, they were not about to let a submerged island ruin their plans. I joined Allison and her adorable daughter, and Jason with his parents for their beach ceremony. It was a WINDY day, and the beach was still very cut up from the hurricane but they made the best of it. It was a pleasure to be a part of their day, and I’m so glad they were able to have their wedding here on the Outer Banks, despite the obstacles.
