Melissa & Mike {Married} | Whalehead Club Wedding Photographer

A couple of weeks ago I had the pleasure of photographing the wedding of Melissa and Mike. I’d met Melissa and her mom several months earlier, and was really looking forward to their Whalehead Club Wedding. The always awesome Rev. Jay Bowman made the “I Do’s” happen, and we can’t forget about the super talented Embellisher’s for their beautiful arch and flowers. Island Shore Productions was on hand to video, and I can’t wait to see what Tony captured! We were not about to let some wind and overcast skies stop us, and Melissa was definitely a trooper as she hiked all over The Whalehead Club in her heels for the best spots to photograph. Thanks again for letting me capture your big day!

Becky & Mike’s Nags Head Engagement | Outer Banks Wedding Photographer

Becky and I had been emailing for quite a while about her wedding. I met up with Becky and her mom and bridesmaids on a planning trip for her 2014 wedding. We scheduled her engagement session for a few weeks later, and of course it would just so happen that her session took place during one of the worst weather weeks….ever. We were able to move things around, and what a good thing. We ended up with the perfect weather! Blue skies, cool temps, and while it was a little more windy than I would have liked – we still managed to have a great session. We started out at the Bodie Island Lighthouse, before heading across the street to Coquina Beach for some time in the sand.

It’s almost Thursday, and so I’m being ahead of the game! In honor of “Throwback Thursday” I wanted to share one of my favorite images taken on my family’s farm of the talented Amanda with Kimberlin Grey Photography. I met up with Amanda and her family, as well as another photographer for a session on our farm. It was a chilly day, with a breeze, and the ultimate goal of a holiday card photo. I’m pretty sure we nailed it with this image, and it still remains one of my favorite I’ve ever taken!

Cain Family | Corolla Family Portrait Photographer

I met up with Kate and her family in Corolla for their family sessions. In a week of crazy weather, they lucked out with the most beautiful evening and beautiful light. Add in their ridiculously cute kids and you end up with a session that just comes together. I had such a great time getting to work with them!

Clearly little brother isn’t as thrilled to be hanging out with big brother?

Michelle and Chris celebrated their Outer Banks Wedding with family and friends in a Corolla event home. A light rain storm threatened to move us inside, but it quickly passed and we continued on as normal. Michelle was so clam getting ready, and looked beautiful as she headed down the isle to meet her groom. Congrats Michelle & Chris – it was an honor to photograph your special day!

Matt & Hallie {Outer Banks/Nags Head Wedding Photographer}

Matt & Hallie hosted their Outer Banks Wedding with family and close friends in Nags Head. Their gazebo ceremony was followed by an intimate dinner inside the Tail of the Whale Restaurant. We were able to steel a few minutes away after their ceremony for some photos overlooking the water. Their bridal party had probably one of the best “jump shots” for the entire year!

Summer is FAST approaching here on the Outer Banks and it’s almost time for those OBX Beach Vacations. We were teased by Mother Nature over the past few weeks with some beautiful warm weather (if you could stand the pollen!) and like a cruel trick she brought us some really nasty weather. The past week has been cold wind, rain, more wind, more rain, finished up with a little more wind! FINALLY today we woke up to blue skies and birds chirping. While you still can’t put on those swimsuits just yet, it is really nice to go outside without needing a parka….or a morton salt man rain suit!

The Intern {Sara Allman}

Hi everyone, I’d like to take the opportunity to introduce myself and let you know a little bit about me. My name is Sara Allman and I am a Currituck County native. I am currently working for my Associates degree in photography through Randolph Community College. I have been photographing, mostly film, since I can remember and it has always been something that I love. I am a “country bumpkin” and a beach bum all in one. I enjoy boat rides, fishing, playing with my dogs, spending time with family and friends, and PHOTOGRAPHY, of course. So far my internship with Courtney Hathaway Photography has been wonderful. She is kind, funny, and a great mentor. I am very excited to continue on this new endeavor with her and hope you can join us by booking your session with her!
